EVERYDAY FOOD DRIVE

It's great that community organizers get together at certain times of the year and hold large food drives.

MY QUESTION IS

WHY CAN'T EVERY DAY BE A FOOD DRIVE?

Why aren't there large bins set up at the front of every grocery store so that customers can donate, just purchaced items, on their way out?

Who wouldn't throw in an extra jar of peanut butter, can of green beans or a tube of toothpaste, into their cart on a regular basis if all they had to do is leave it in the bin while they are there anyway?

WHY? WHY? WHY?

It's not like I'm some brilliant mastermind, but I haven't seen anyone else suggesting this. Is it not obvious? Is there a reason it can't be done?

I'm sure there's Food Bank and Shelter Volunteers that would be happy to collect and distribute the goods.

There are so many people in need of so many things. To me, this seems like a win, win, win. The stores make more money, the food banks and shelters receive more help and the struggling people are better provided for.

I'm a nobody so, I can't just go into Walmart or Fred Meyer and say "Hey, I've got this great idea" but, maybe this could spark something in somebody reading this who has the right kind of connections to get it accomplished.

Imagine if this became just a normal aspect of shopping for everyone everywhere, at every grocery store, everyday.
