DOCUMENTARIES
To Watch These Films Is Hard...So, So Hard
But, it is something that we should all do. And it should be a requirement that, before anyone is allowed to purchase and consume one more animal product, they have to show a certificate of proof that they have watched these films and fully understand the implications of what they are about to do.
Of course this will never happen. I don't blame people for not knowing. You don't know what you don't know. And I don't blame people for not looking, and for turning away, when faced with a small fraction of the reality of slaughterhouses. It is too hard to look and, I admit, I am guilty of looking away before I saw too much.
Knowing that I was choosing to look away seemed wrong to me, but I did it anyway for a very long time. I would hear about how a particular large food company would be caught mis-treating their chickens and I would vow never to buy chicken products from that company, not understanding that their practices were closer to the norm than the exception.
Now I know and I can not un-know what I know.
I can not un-see what I have seen.
